Who we are
Tender Caviary is a small family run caviary. Our main focus is on the health and care of our cavies and making sure they go to good homes that promote their happiness and support their needs.
IN THE BEGINNING...
HER STORY:
It all started with my husband's idea to get pets for our children, which quickly turned into his "bright'' idea to breed them. Let's just say I wasn't a fan of the idea lol . However, after owning our own guinea pigs for a while I knew that would be the next step for us. It started with the idea of teaching our children about the different aspects of breeding, which has now turned into the love of breeding for improvement of our breeds as well as showing them.
HIS STORY:
It all started with my wife texting me with the "children's" request for guinea pigs. My family has a big heart for animals and after having a dog for a while (before the fish, rabbits, etc.), I thought the idea of having another animal would be inspiring and educational for the children towards the respect of life. Doesn't hurt that guineas are a fraction of the size, expenses, responsibility, etc...as I thought at the time lol. The cuteness and simplicity of these creatures, with the intent for our family to share and care together while we learn and interested in the experience of observing the process of life...lol...I thought it would be simpler and straight forward (ok, I confess), I encouraged the idea of breeding guinea pigs. My wife became the advocate and moved it up a notch with showing them as well.
IN THESE LAST DAYS...
Our family maintains a caviary in Newmarket and provide cavies to multiple families and guinea lovers throughout the GTA. We raise healthy, happy and friendly guineas that have only been a joy for us and those which have come to provide homes for those we have provided. Tender has a consistent order list that continues to grow, Meek is building wood cages for guinea owners and show boards for breeders throughout Ontario and our children are learning, enjoying and assisting in all aspects of this great experience we have been blessed to encounter at Tender Caviary.
